About this event
Caregiver Academy Is Open To Anyone Who…
- Is currently employed as a caregiver
- Wants to become a part-time or full-time caregiver
- Is informally caring for a loved one at home
- Would like to learn about caregiving for personal reasons
- Wants practical tips on giving quality care
We are reserving 20 seats for caregivers of veterans. We encourage you to attend whether or not you are currently providing care for veterans.
Goals
Prepare caregivers with the knowledge and skills in order to provide basic care duties for the elderly, medically fragile, or individuals with disabilities in a home environment. After completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Communicate and interact in a therapeutic manner with clients and their family members
- Protect, support, and promote the rights of clients
- Provide care duties in a safe manner while practicing prevention strategies
Event Description
Lesson One: Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Lesson Two: Ethics of a Caregiver
Lesson Three: Infection Control and Medical Issues
Lesson Four: Caregiver Responsibilities
Lesson Five: Emergency Response
Lesson Six: Military Transitions
Refreshments and food will be provided.
After completion of all three days attendees will receive a CPR Certification, Training Certificate, and a stipend of $150.00.
